Kenneth Lewis Lecture on Democracy: Echoes of Integrity In-Person

Kenneth Lewis Lecture on Democracy: Echoes of Integrity - A Compass for Today's Decision-Makers

Speaker Monica Carol Church is the granddaughter of Frank and Bethine Church and Cecil and Carol Andrus. She is a lifelong Idaho educator and advocate for youth voices in places where decisions are made. Monica recently returned to the public school classroom after years serving as the Executive Director of the Frank Church Institute at Boise State University. Monica believes strongly in enriching conversations around civic engagement, public education, and the promotion and preservation of public lands in Idaho and the Mountain West. She is an eternal scholar and holds degrees in Philosophy, Cultural Anthropology, History, Secondary Social Studies Education, and an MSEd in Public School Administration.

Monica routinely speaks at community events and can be heard often on Boise State Public Radio. In 2024 she edited and co-authored an educational textbook of Senator Frank Church speeches for secondary educators titled, The Future Starts Today, Not Tomorrow

Monica sits on the boards of the Andrus Center at Boise State, and the Sawtooth Society in Hailey, Idaho. She also serves on the Idaho Delegation of the United States Global Leadership Coalition, and she is an Ethics Commissioner for the City of Boise where she lives with her husband and daughter. Monica and her family love to ski and spend time near alpine lakes, and when not in the mountains, you'll find them at their neighborhood YMCA.
